I Am

I am the voice of reason. A voice so bold that quietness can’t tame this reason. I am a mover, like the sway from the hula skirts to the fiery flow of Pele’s beauty. I am love, the type of love that encompasses centuries of the voyagers who voyaged through the tides to reach one destination after another with their loved ones. . .carrying the stories of other voyagers from isle to isle. I am a voice of the genocide, the breath of life that has been stolen, erased and forgotten. Laying throughout the Polynesian Islands are my ancestors, brown bodies hiding in the heiau’s covered with sacredness and honor. The wisdom to be shown is dripping through who we are today. Dripping because there’s not very much left to spew out. We are merely creatures surviving amongst foreigners trying to sustain the very essence of who we are. I am exhausted by the destruction of a world that collided with ours and has changed our name. I am a native to the land, to help sustain the land, one who has the responsibility to remain true to who I am, to educate the fools to our land because when we ask you not do something in our land you have caused harm to the land. . .I am a warrior, a survivor of a dying people, there has been minimal multiplying outside of the island we know as Hawai’i. I am freedom, freedom fighting to gain control from everything that has held me captive and imprisoned me like our beloved Queen Lili’uokalani. I am peace, still, alive, existing, calm. . .I am everything they never want us to be. . .I am a voice, a bold voice of reason. . .and this doesn’t touch half the battle I face as a Polynesian.

  2. Wow! this is powerful always remain true to who you are (period). Sometimes you never know how talented people are! You keep your voice moving in every platform that God gives you, right is right people need to held responsible for the past.
